Young Masters Art Studio
For returning guests…
We have changed the name of this art class for kids and teens ages 11-17 years old as it better suits what the class has evolved into.
This after-school studio art class starts and continues students, ages 11-17 years old, on a path of being able to create truly stunning and accurate artwork. Our enrolled students love art and are diligently looking to push their boundaries and learn skills to draw and paint anything, including from their imagination.
Young Masters Art Studio – After-School Art Class
Please note we are in summer session 2025!
Summer Session is our summer camp season which ends in August and the monthly membership will resume in September.
All students must have a materials list they will be responsible for bringing their first day of class and all semester. Scroll to the bottom of this page for the required materials list.
During the school year, September through May, we offer 3 groups of this art class Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Each day is a separate group and are not interchangeable. Each group will learn the same material. For new students, simply decide which day is most convenient for your schedule and sign up below.
Tuesday Group 11-17
Meets 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Wednesday Group 11-17
Meets 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Thursday Group 11-17
Meets 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Young Masters Art Studio is at least one semester long. Students keep coming back for more as they learn because this class can keep delivering instruction due to the unique format. The first section students learn is drawing and shading in the realism tradition where students learn drawing fundamentals and are encouraged to bring style and creativity to their work. After this Drawing Section is completed, which takes an average of 2-3 months, students can then pick a direction that interests them the most: acrylic painting, landscapes, drawing from imagination, realism, portrature, sculpture and more. This class content keeps developing and we are now in our 3rd year teaching this class in Bay Area Art School.
All students will have a materials list they will be responsible for bringing their first day of class and all semester. Scroll to the bottom of this page for the required materials list.
Monthly Subscription Terms
Our monthly subscription provides access to weekly classes on your chosen day (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) for each calendar month. Payments are due on the first of the month, with no autopayment option. To simplify billing for new students, we offer prorated fees for the first month only, if applicable, so everyone can align with our regular payment schedule. Prorated amounts are based on a value of each class being a $70 value.
This subscription model is not based on a per-class “ticket” system; rather, it provides consistent access to classes each month. Most months include four weekly sessions, though some months may have three or five, depending on the calendar. We recommend committing to at least a full year, as this helps balance out the occasional variation in the number of sessions per month and offers the best learning experience over time.
When you register you can pick the day you like (pending it’s not full), and that becomes your set day of the week for your classes. Due to space limitations, changing days is not permitted without prior approval from the studio. However, if you miss a class due to illness, you are allowed one makeup session per month, which must be scheduled and attended within 25 days of the absence, subject to availability.
Thank you for your commitment, and we look forward to supporting your child’s artistic growth through consistent participation in our program!

Materials List
- Pencils: Mono Tombow Pencils or Staedler Mars lumograph. pencil weights of 2B, B, HB, H, 2H – 6 each.
- Paper Mate Tuff Stuff Eraser Stick or any similar stick eraser.
- Mono Zero Eraser (the round one) – Tiny eraser that brings a lot of control to drawing. I also advise getting refills ahead of time.
- Pencil Extenders – When pencils get short this extends their life.
- Kneaded eraser
- Sandpaper Pencil Sharpeners: Staedtler Mars Sandpaper Lead Pointer or equivalent.
- Charcoal Pencils: General Charcoal or Wolff’s Carbon Pencils. Minimum of both: 2B, 4B AND General’s Charcoal White Pencil – Minimum of 3
Please note that these are fragile pencils and dropping one can mean shattering the core rendering the pencil useless. It’s best to bind with a rubber band and carry in a soft case. - Grafix Dura-Lar Matte Pad – 9 x 12 inches. This is used for overlays for painting. Essential for learning to paint at the studio.
- Box Cutter. We use this to carve pencils exposing the lead and use the sandpaper pencil sharpeners to create a very sharp drawing edge for precision work. I will have this at the studio, so students do not have to bring this with them.
- An “art canvas 48 pencil case“. This search term will take you to what I recommend. They will protect the pencils very well.
